Why AI Readiness matters

Classic SEO readiness — correct indexing, clean crawlability, relevant content — remains necessary but is no longer sufficient.

AI search systems such as ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews add new requirements: entity clarity, content retrievability, structured attribution, and AI crawler accessibility. A website can be perfectly optimized for classic search and still be largely invisible to AI retrieval systems.

AI Readiness is the discipline of closing that gap.

The six dimensions of AI Readiness

At Grupa Insight, we evaluate AI Readiness across six dimensions:

1. Entity clarity — the brand, its services, authors, and locations are consistently defined across the website and external sources. Organization schema with sameAs links, named author pages, and consistent NAP across directories are the foundation.

2. Content architecture — content is structured so that AI systems can extract clear, standalone answers from each section. Definition paragraphs, FAQ sections, numbered processes, and comparison tables map well to how AI systems retrieve and use content.

3. Structured data — schema markup makes pages self-describing. Authorship, dates, organization, services, and FAQs are machine-readable without requiring prose interpretation.

4. Topical authority — the site covers its target topic with sufficient depth and breadth to be recognized as a reliable source. Content clusters with interconnected pillar articles, supporting articles, FAQs, and case studies build topical authority over time.

5. Trust signals — named authors with verifiable credentials, current sources, transparent dates, and clear editorial responsibility make content easy to attribute and trust.

6. Technical accessibility — AI crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot can access and index key pages. robots.txt, Core Web Vitals, canonical URLs, and llms.txt are all part of the technical AI Readiness layer.

AI Readiness audit — what to check

A basic AI Readiness audit covers:

  • robots.txt — confirm OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot are not blocked
  • Organization schema — present on homepage and About page with sameAs links
  • Author pages — named authors with credentials and external links
  • Content structure — definition paragraphs, FAQ sections, and clear headings
  • Topical cluster — at least one complete content cluster around the core service category
  • llms.txt — implemented as an experimental AI-readiness layer
  • PageSpeed — Core Web Vitals passing, especially LCP and CLS

AI Readiness is not a one-time task

AI search systems evolve continuously. New crawlers emerge, citation behaviors change, and content that is retrievable today may need updating as systems improve. AI Readiness requires ongoing monitoring through prompt testing, referral traffic analysis, and regular content and technical audits.
